Getting There
Making sure you tee off well is important. We have a great choice of charter,
schedule and low cost airline flights available, so there should be something
to suit all tastes - and budgets. Here’s a few hints, tips and ideas
to send you soaring:
Local Connections
If the idea of driving hours to your airport, battling with 'leaves on the
line', or lugging your luggage around fills you will dread, then we can
get you off to a flying start. Nothing is more convenient than starting
your holiday from your local airport. There are some surprisingly good connections
available and, though they're generally a little more than the cost of a
basic London departure, we’ll let you know when you book how much
the price supplement is. For example, for holidays with BA flights from
Heathrow or Gatwick, connecting BA flights to London from a choice of 10
local airports are available from just £45.
Doing your sums
Believe it our not, the lowest cost flight is not always the best value
for money. There’ll be charges for food and drinks, carriage of clubs
isn’t included in the price and often the baggage limit is lower,
so paying for excess baggage looms at check in. Make sure you’re not
left with a grumbling stomach and a dent in your wallet during your flight
and check the details with our sales team when you book – they’ll
do their best to get you the best possible deal.
Travel light and save money
Contrary to what a lot of golfers seem to think, there are such things as
baggage allowances on aeroplanes. If you really want to pay a hefty excess
baggage charge, then go ahead and pack your jumbo size tournament bag with
a few extra wedges, three pairs of shoes, waterproofs, boiled sweets and
two dozen balls. In fact, why not take a trolley for good measure? But don’t
go arguing with the flight staff when they point out you’re way over
the limit and charge you for it. If you don’t want to do your wallet
a mischief, think before you pack. Do you really need all that equipment?
Is it going to make much of a difference to your score? Remember, it’s
going to be warm, so only taking half a set of clubs might make carrying
your bag more comfortable. Travel light and the only thing you’ll
miss is the bad back.
Relax executive style
For most people wobbly trolleys, queue after queue, passport checks and
security searches are enough to have you frazzled before you’ve even
got on the plane. The Servisair Executive Lounge lets you put your feet
up and relax in style before you board your plane, leaving you to sit back
and dream about that winning shot on the 18th hole. Available at Aberdeen,
Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Bradford, Humberside, Gatwick,
Heathrow (T1, T2, T3), Manchester, Newcastle and Stanstead, the executive
lounge offers a range of services including:
- A range of alcoholic beverages
- Soft drinks
- Tea and coffee
- A choice of snacks
- Magazines and newspapers
- Telephone, telefaxes and e-mail
Tempted? Not bad for only £15 per person, and it's free for Finest
hotel customers.
Schedule your holiday
If charter or low cost airlines are not your thing, then you can upgrade
your European flight to a scheduled one from as little as £10 return.
With all the benefits of scheduled flying, it’s worth thinking about.
Both British Airways and Air Portugal offer some great benefits including
increased luggage allowance, dedicated check-in desks, in-flight bar service,
newspapers and more.
