The Resort
The Atlantis Resort is set on Paradise Island and is based on the ancient, mythical lost city of Atlantis, said to have been submerged by the sea over 11,000 years ago. It’s fair to say, if the original resembled this resort it would have been found years ago such is its huge footprint. It’s not just the size of the place that impresses but the huge array of facilities surrounding the main complex. There are water parks, shopping zones, a casino, and 22 restaurants and 19 bars spread across the different accommodation areas. These include the relaxed ambience of the Beach and Coral Towers, to the sumptuous Royal Towers, to the ultra-luxurious, all-suite style of The Cove. There’s also the Reef, offering breathtaking water, harbour or terrace views.
The golf on offer is just as impressive, with the Tom Weiskopf-designed Ocean Club Golf Course providing every element for a memorable round. This 18-hole, par-72 championship course stretches to over 7,100 yards on the island’s peninsula, where crosswinds can challenge even the most experienced players. Located on the northern edge of Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, the International Airport is just 15 minutes away by car.
Golf
Views of the beautiful Bahamian coastline help make the Ocean Club Golf Course one of the most memorable venues in this region, but it isn’t all about the vistas.
A redesign by Tom Weiskopf in 2000 transformed the course into an entirely new course and much of the foliage that blocked the ocean views was removed to make way for stunning seaside tees and greens, The Ocean Club golf course provides a superb test of Caribbean golf, the 18-hole, par-72 course stretching to over 7,100 yards along Paradise Island's striking peninsula, where crosswinds challenge even the most experienced of players. It’s gained a well-deserved reputation as one of the finest courses in the Caribbean and Michael Jordan hosts his popular Celebrity Invitational charity event here every year.
Configured in two loops of nine holes, the fairways wind their way through wetlands, waste areas and lagoons. The signature hole is Spyglass, the 208-yard 12th, where the tee shot must carry an inlet to a forward sloping well-bunkered green.
It’s a great place to play golf all year round with consistently sunny and warm weather plus excellent service (The Ocean Club offers high quality Callaway Clubs as rental sets) - and the breathtaking ocean views are the icing on the cake.
Rooms
All the rooms and suites here are large and lavishly appointed. The Imperial Club level on the 17th-24th floors of the Royal Towers offers the highest level of service with the most luxurious appointments. Standard rooms have French balconies, and suites have full balconies. Guests are provided exclusive use of the Imperial Club Lounge with daily food and beverage presentations.
