La Coeur d'Alene
The Resort
Dubbed the ‘playground of the American north west’, The Coeur d’Alene Resort is a unique destination that is blessed with truly striking natural surroundings. Relaxation is fundamental to the experience at the luxury retreat, located close to the state border with Washington. Discerning travellers descend on The Coeur d’Alene to enjoy the resplendent tranquility of the locality and the opportunity to enjoy a great many sport and leisure activities.
Golf is the leading attraction for many visitors to this corner of Idaho, with a course that has been open since 1991 and has received more than its fair share of plaudits. The championship layout is ranked as one of the top resort courses in the United States, and it has received the top prize in terms of visual beauty; if golfing off the beaten track appeals, then The Coeur d’Alene will satisfy in spades.
Golf
This is not merely a game of golf, it is a golfing experience. Arrive at the course from the resort by hand-crafted mahogany lake shuttles and be met by your personal forecaddie for the day. Warm up includes the over-water practice range and, more importantly, a complimentary sports massage, so there are no excuses come the first tee.
Out on the course, golfers will not only take on designer Scott Miller’s superb design, but also be wowed by the true beauty of the natural surroundings. Changes of elevation present splendid views of the pines and the lake, all a prequel to the challenge of the incredible 14th hole at Coeur d’Alene. This is the world’s only floating, movable par-3 green, sitting approximately 150 yards from the shore and only accessible by the Putter Boat shuttle, where golfers receive a personalised certificate upon completion.
Certainly the most unique, this is arguably the best golfing experience in the United States.
