Costa Brava Courses
Emporda Golf Club Located right in the heart
of the Costa Brava, Emporda Golf Club offers three distinct 9-hole loops,
which can be played in any combination. The layout combines an extensive links
zone with the lovely Mediterranean landscape and an area of dense pine trees
to offer a pleasantly varied challenge. We've played all of the combinations
and it feels as if you're on a different course each time - so one visit here
definitely isn't enough! Emporda is rated among Europe's top 60 courses and
we think it's a real 'must play' if you're staying in the area.

Serres de Pals
One of three courses that form
the 'golf gold triangle' of the Costa Brava (along with Emporda and Platja
de Pals), Serres de Pals is more open than other courses in the area and has
three distinct areas with smooth hills, fairway lakes and pine groves. The
mountain backdrop, the landscapes of the Baix Emporda and the abundance of
local wildlife are sure to catch your eye, while the large, difficult greens
are sure to test your putting stroke. Rated 86th on the continent by Golf
World magazine, this course is used by the PGA European Tour for their pre-qualifying
tournaments and is highly recommended.

Platja de Pals One of three courses that form
the 'golf gold triangle' of the Costa Brava (along with Emporda and Serres
de Pals), the delightful Platja de Pals is located in a dense, green pine
forest and next to the white sands of Pals beach. It's a real challenge -
its length demands power, but its greens are tucked away among strategically
placed bunkers so precision is all-important too. Platja de Pals is a host
venue for the PGA European Tour pre-qualifying school.

Costa Brava Golf Club If you're feeling a little
homesick and fancy playing somewhere with a distinctive British design and
feel (in a distinctive Spanish climate!), head for Costa Brava Golf Club.
The front 9, surrounded by pine and cork oak groves and with many carefully
positioned bunkers, poses a good technical challenge, while the back 9's broad
fairways allow you to really hit out with your driver. The course can be enjoyed
by golfers of all abilities - as can the lovely 19th century Catalan clubhouse.
Well worth a visit.

Girona Golf Club Situated close to Girona, this
is an undulating course which is completely isolated from everyday life and
has some wonderful views of the historic city from its mostly elevated tees.
The rolling fairways and shrewdly placed water and sand hazards demand sound
technique and sometimes the ability to flight the ball both ways. The greens
have lots of slopes and provide a good test of putting. An interesting challenge
for high and low handicappers alike, but chances of a game at the weekend
are slim. Buggies recommended.

PGA Golf de Catalunya Rated as one of the top 10
courses in Europe and with great value green fees, the PGA is an absolute
'must play' for anyone staying in the Costa Brava. Built in a valley and surrounded
by a dense pine forest, the course has a nice parkland feel to it. The fairways
are wide, but the rough is severe, there are several daunting water hazards
to contend with and the huge, super-fast greens are well protected by bunkers.
This is one of the most attractive and challenging courses around and, for
a course of such quality, prices are staggeringly low.

Club Golf D'Aro The spectacular Club Golf D'Aro
is worth playing for the views alone - it's located 300m above sea level in
the Les Gavarres Mountains and looks down over the coast and out to the Pyrenees
in the distance. Although flat and not too strenuous, cork and olive groves
and water hazards make this a tricky test. With 12 fairways bordered by deep
ravines, there's no chance of retrieving your ball if you're wayward from
the tee. The course has many great holes and is a must to play.
