Area Description
The first time we went to Mauritius we couldn't believe our eyes, and
even now, after several visits, it still seems like heaven on earth. This
beautiful island in the Indian Ocean is the perfect place for sun-worshippers,
as it has the most amazing white sandy beaches shelving gently into the
blue tropical waters.
It's also an island steeped in history, and we just love the mix of cultures
that make it such an interesting place for visitors. The food in particular
is an amazing blend of several different influences. Something else we
love about Mauritius is that its people are warm and friendly and welcome
visitors with open arms. Until recently the island only had one golf course,
but a second course at the Belle Mare Plage resort opened in 2002 and
since then its appeal as a golfing destination has increased considerably.
