Golf

Palm Springs' reputation as a renowned golfing paradise rings true at La Quinta like no other resort; during your stay you have the opportunity to tackle no less than five extraordinary courses designed by some of golf's greatest names.

Mountain Course

Typical to many Pete Dye course designs, the Mountain Course is a serious challenge to all golfers thanks to pot bunkers, rock formations and significant elevation changes that make club selection very difficult. The stunning views of the surrounding landscape are evident from all over the course but to truly appreciate their magnificence you must wait until you arrive on the raised 16th tee.

Dunes Course

The Dunes Course is another Pete Dye creation but mercifully it offers more of a relaxing experience; however that is not to say it is a stroll in the park. Undulating, links-style fairways are bordered by thick, penal rough and with a great variety of holes shot shaping and club selection are valuable attributes to have. This course serves as a good warm up for the challenge that awaits on the TPC Stadium Course.

TPC Stadium Course

Another stunning desert golf course, another Pete Dye design. This par 72 beauty is a favourite among touring professionals and an absolute must play for those on a golf holiday in California. Mind boggling undulations, vast cavernous bunkers and island green par 3s are just some of the defining characteristics of this stunning desert jewel.

Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course

Jack Nicklaus needs no introduction and in recent years it has become evident that his ability on the golf course has translated perfectly into skills as a course architect. His Tournament course in Palm Springs is one of his finest efforts and the breathtaking backdrop compliments the challenging layout perfectly. Like many Nicklaus designs the fairways are generous and allow the golfer to really go for his drives. From there an emphasis is placed on precision as many raised greens will punish any errant approach shots and make getting up and down for par a tricky proposition.

Greg Norman Course

Not to be outdone, Greg Norman has also created a beautiful and enjoyable desert layout that rivals any of its neighbouring courses. Featuring an abundance of sand, sage and awash with colourful wild flowers, this course is well protected by nine lakes and as such precision is key to a good score. The Shark’s course is more exposed than its neighbours and subsequently boasts the most stunning panoramic views to be found anywhere in the Coachella Valley.

His simple approach using the finest, locally sourced and most importantly fresh ingredients offers guests delicious food with intense flavours that can be complimented with a specially selected bottle of wine.

This modern American bistro spotlights innovative approaches to familiar classic dishes, using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and the adjoining bar is as fun and tasteful as the food served throughout the day.

Adobe Grill

Being so close to Mexico you would expect resorts in California to serve up delicious Mexican fare and that is exactly what you will find at the Adobe Grill. Famed for its tamales, Adobe Grill is the authentic regional Mexican dining experience in the Palm Springs area. Dishes are bursting with flavour created using mild spices and innovative combinations of the freshest ingredients. A master tequilero is also on hand to mix your signature margarita from one of more than 50 classic tequilas.

Ernie’s is the centrepiece of the Clubhouse at PGA West and offers golfers the perfect place to refuel after a day on the fairways. Ernie’s offers a delicious array of fresh pub fare, along with an extensive array of fine wines, hand-crafted beers and spirits in a relaxed, upscale environment.

MD Burger Spot and Game Room

For those looking for the ultimate burger, MD Burger Spot is the place for you. Premium meat sourced from naturally raised beef and buffalo are used to create the best burgers on the West coast. Customised burgers and New England Clam Chowder are the highlights of the menu and for those who enjoy a challenge “The Situation” is the perfect meal. Diners who take on “The Situation” are challenged to eat a record breaking burger to earn their place on the restaurants wall of fame!

Wallaby’s West

Located in the Greg Norman Clubhouse at PGA West, Wallaby West captures the spirit of the outback and provides diners with a casual, ranch-style environment where fresh salads, sandwiches and other light fare can be enjoyed in the dining room or under the sun on the patio. Evening meals are also available here and for those looking for a comfortable al fresco meal in the cool desert evenings an outdoor fire pit is sure to keep you toasty.
