            The Resort

A member of the exclusive Luxury Small Hotels of the World association, the Heritage Le Telfair Resort is a beacon of elegance and class in Domaine de Bel Ombre on the tropical southern shores of Mauritius. The former sugar cane fields have been transformed into a deluxe leisure retreat of international quality, with the renowned Golf du Chateau at its heart.

The setting is inspired by the traditional colonial history of Mauritius, extending through the deluxe five-star hotel through tropical gardens to the shores of the Citronniers River and the Indian Ocean shoreline. The idyllic resort is understated and laid back, and boasts impressive onsite amenities including an upscale spa complex, while the quality of the accommodations ensures that your stay in Mauritius will begin in the utmost comfort.

            Golf

Wedged between the mountains inland and the pure waters of the Indian Ocean is Golf du Chateau, an internationally renowned course created on land reclaimed from historic sugar cane fields. South African course architect Peter Matkovich was gifted the glorious Domaine de Bel Ombre plot on which to create the golf course, and the 18-hole championship layout is a joy to behold.

Challenges, as well as aesthetic appeal, come from the Citronniers and St Martin Rivers, which traverse Golf du Chateau, while Matkovich has also made full use of the expansive lakes and tropical woodland indigenous to the land. Glorious views of the Indian Ocean and Mauritius' volcanic mountains are part of the appeal of Golf du Chateau, which promises to provide a golfing experience that is the equal of the luxury result.

            Bars and Restaurants

Open show kitchens, unique fusion cuisine and the historic Château de Bel Ombre are highlights on the culinary landscape at Heritage Le Telfair, which is a haven for gourmands.

            Le Château de Bel Ombre

This unique restaurant is housed in the majestically restored 19th century chateau of the same name, and is where resort guests can lap up views of the magnificent French gardens and sample a fine array of traditional Mauritian dishes.

            Annabella's

Annabella's is a tribute to the wife of Charles Telfair, the estate's owner, and is a chic brasserie with semi-circular banquettes where the European and Mauritian inspired cuisine is backed up by an award-winning wine list.

            Gin'ja

Japanese and pan-Asian dishes dominate the elegant Gin'ja, which is found overlooking the white sand at the lagoon's edge.

            Le Palmier

Wood fired or barbecued dishes are the hallmark of Le Palmier, a beachfront bar and restaurant with direct access to the sea - the ultimate lunch and cocktail retreat.
