What was once a redundant stone quarry has been transformed into a truly incredible golfing complex - Sandy Lane enlisted the renowned Tom Fazio, and the resultant 45 holes, on the idyllic coast of western Barbados, make the resort one of the most outstanding top end golf holiday destinations.
The beginning of high quality golf at Sandy Lane was the 1961 construction of The Old Nine, a famous, old-fashioned loop that is hugely enjoyable, but the landscape has been redrawn with the advent of two subsequent championship layouts. The first is the Country Club, a contemporary Tom Fazio creation that tops the 7,000 yard mark and presents the best of the Caribbean views.
However, golf at Sandy Lane for many is the Green Monkey, the already renowned championship layout with exposed rock peppered throughout, and a collection of truly remarkable holes.
