The Resort

Sitting proudly on the raised ground overlooking the two renowned golf courses and out to the Ailsa Craig and Mull of Kintyre, Turnberry and its hotel have a mystique that is unique among golf destinations, and one which has been rejuvenated by the recent renovation work surrounding the 2009 Open Championship.

The updated accommodation and public areas are the perfect complement to the glorious vistas, fine dining and the magnificent Ailsa Course, scene of amazing championship drama and ranked by many astute observers as the best links course in the world.

Joining the Ailsa is the Kintyre, itself a wonderful course, the Colin Montgomerie endorsed academy and practice complex, plus relaxing spa and leisure amenities. Prestwick Airport is the closest to Turnberry, while Glasgow International is also a good option.

Bars and Restaurants

From classic fine dining to clubhouse classics, Turnberry has a comprehensive collection of dining possibilities, most of which take full advantage of the ocean views.

1906 Restaurant

Turnberry?s signature restaurant is 1906, where the best of Scottish produce is channeled into a classically French menu; taking Escoffier as its starting point and creating a truly unique culinary experience. For the ultimate dining treat, book the Chef's Table, which seats ten in a private area overlooking the pass, where head chef Ralph Porciani will guide you through the menu.

Tappie Toorie

Located in the clubhouse, the Tappie Toorie enjoys panoramic views of the Ailsa Course, and serves light snacks plus grills, salads and pasta dishes.

Duel In The Sun

A nod to Nicklaus and Watson's epic battle at Turnberry, the Duel In The Sun is a brand new sports bar in the hotel, where bar snacks and the fantastic St Mungo beer join an antique snooker table in a truly special setting.

The Grand Tea Lounge

Rated one of Scotland's best, afternoon tea at Turnberry is a treat; enjoy the elegant presentation and fantastic cakes and sandwiches, a reminder that when Turnberry was opened in 1906, the tea lounge was the heart of the station hotel.

Spa at Turnberry

The Spa at Turnberry is operated by ESPA, and, in keeping with one of the world's leading luxury spa brands, it is a haven of relaxation. Bespoke ESPA treatments are joined by the swimming pool and relaxation areas, all looking out to the Irish Sea and the Ailsa Craig.

A well equipped gym is the place to work out, while the holistic approach adopted by the Spa at Turnberry makes it the perfect complement to the golf and accommodation at Turnberry.

Golf at Turnberry

Turnberry is synonymous with top class international links golf, spearheaded by the phenomenal Ailsa Course, multiple Open Championship host ? most recently in 2009 for Tom Watson's near miss. Consistently ranked near the top of the world rankings, the Ailsa is an experience essential for any serious golfer, and the views looking out to the Ailsa Craig and past the iconic lighthouse will live long in the memory.

Not easily outdone is the Kintyre, Turnberry's so called 'second' course but one which stands up in its own right as an outstanding links layout. Winding down to the coast and providing some spectacular views, the Kintyre is a true gem.
